What we teach matters
Sourcery Academy for .NET Developers is a free, three-month learning program designed for aspiring software engineers. Held twice a year—in spring and fall—the academy provides an opportunity to build practical development skills under the guidance of experienced Cognizant professionals. Participants learn through a combination of self-paced study, hands-on workshops, mentor support, and real project work. Activities take place at Cognizant offices in Vilnius and Kaunas, where students collaborate with peers, mentors, and software engineering experts in a professional development environment. Throughout the academy, participants gain practical experience with .NET technologies, Agile ways of working, and industry-standard development tools. Working in teams, they apply their knowledge to a custom project and strengthen both their technical and collaboration skills. Each participant is supported by a dedicated mentor who provides guidance, feedback, and technical insights throughout the program. Upon successful completion, all graduates receive a certificate, and top-performing participants may be invited to interview for Junior Software Engineer opportunities at Cognizant.

Frequently asked questions
The Academy offers blended learning that combines offline independent learning content with hands-on, live workshops held in the office, along with direct guidance from an assigned mentor who supports students in developing their project skills. In addition, each team may have face-to-face agile meetings arranged in the office, depending on the needs of the team and the circumstances. Official academy language – English.
If you want to successfully graduate from the Academy, you should plan to dedicate approximately ±20 hours per week. Around three hours per week will be allocated to offline lecture content. Another ~3 hours will be spent on live workshops (these will not take place every week; the schedule will be provided at the start of the Academy).
The remaining time should be dedicated to your personal learning and development: implementing the IT project together with your team and working on individual or group assignments.
Do your best to prepare for the admission test, which is designed to assess your logic, Node.js, JavaScript, OOP, SQL basics, and software analysis and design skills. You will need to arrive at the exact date, time, and location where the test will be held. This information will be sent to you after you apply to the Academy.
During the test, you may only have a pen; no other materials or electronic devices are allowed. The exam duration is 2 hours, and there are no negative points for incorrect answers.
Students with the highest scores in the admission test will receive a screening call to briefly discuss their motivation and expectations. Candidates who successfully pass this step will then be invited to join the Academy. We accept 24-30 candidates.
The Academy is free to attend and open to anyone motivated to learn modern web technologies. Previous IT work experience is not required. However, applicants should have a basic understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) in order to successfully pass the admission test.

Offline learning content will be provided at the beginning of the Academy. This content is expected to be studied independently and at your own pace, but it should be completed before the end of the Academy. The Academy lasts approximately 2.5 months. Becoming familiar with this material early can also help you build your IT project more effectively and perform tasks more confidently during the program.
The schedule for on-site workshops will be provided at the start of the Academy.
